Biography

Otto Schmidt served with the Infanterie-Regiment 116 with the rank of Leutnant der Reserve during World War One. Vor his services he received the EK2 and EK1 and the Hessische Tapferkeitsmedaille.
During the Second World War he served in France in 1940 as Chef 8. Kompanie, Infanterie-Regiment 181 and in the Soviet Union with II. / Infanterie-Regiment 181 and the rank of Major der Reserve. During the fightings in France in 1945 he became POW witht he U.S. forces in which he remained until 1947.
