Kubbenga was a member of the Germaansche SS (Germanic SS), Standaart III (Region III wich consisted out of Noord-Holland and Utrecht). This organisation was errected under the name Nederlandsche SS (Dutch SS) and under pressure of the Germans to recruit members or the Waffen-SS. Formaly it was 'Onderafdeling XI' (Sub-department XI) of the NSB and was led by Henk Feldmeijer. The organisation had the same structure as the Algemeine SS in Germany.
