Citation:
"For gallantry in action. On 26 October 1944, near ***, France, First Lieutenant Morris crept 200 yards under the fire of two enemy machine guns and four snipers, to establish an Observation Post. Reaching a point fifty yards from enemy positions, he adjusted mortar and artillery fire on German installations. For thirty minutes he was subjected to intense rifle fire, and a grenade which burst within six yards of him, while directing fire which forced the enemy armor to withdraw, allowing our troops to move forward."
At the moment of the action he still held the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.
