Lieutenant Parris, commanding Company L, 134th Infantry, personally led his men in an attack against strongly fortified enemy positions near the village of *** [Borth], which had held up the battalion advance for several days. Displaying outstanding leadership and a high order of personal bravery, Lieutenant Parris led his troops to their initial objective and pushed on to capture four additional towns beyond *** [Huch-Drupt-Alpen], taking a total of 110 prisoners during the day’s operation. His courageous initiative, tactical skill and disregard for personal safety are in accord with military tradition.

Parris, O-1307776, Infantry, United States Army, for heroic service in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States in *** [Kehnert], Germany on 23 April 1945. When an enemy attack developed on the left flank of his company, which had repelled a frontal attack, Lieutenant Parris, commanding Company K, 134th Infantry, exercising exceptional tactical knowledge and leadership ability, moved through heavy enemy fire and personally directed the fire and movement of his troop in repelling the attack. During the ensuing action, 14 of the enemy were killed, 7 wounded and 5 captured. Lieutenant Parris exemplary leadership, courageous initiative and disregard for personal safety reflect credit upon his character as an officer.
