"During the operations in the ADRIATIC sector, from the Casano River to the Gothic Line in July and August 1944, a Cavalry Group was formed consisting of Polish and British Armed ** and Reconnaissance Regiments, which played a vital role in the success of the operations. This group was commanded by Maj. Gen. BOHUSZ-SZYSKO, who carried out the difficult tasks allotted to him with brilliant skill and leadership. In his employment of this force, consisting of elements from different formations, both Polish and British, he constantly maintained the offensive spirit, and by swift and energetic action on a number of occasions outflanked the enemy, forcing him to withdraw from his positions. To his powers of leadership and of a Commander may be attributed to success of this force which more than fulfilled the role allotted to it."
