- Rank:

- November 25th, 1943
"On arrival in this Corps I forwarded an application for the immediate award of the D.S.O. to Brig. WEBB, D.A. & Q.M.G., 10 Corps. The previous Corps Commander, Gen. LUMSDEN, considered that the excellent work carried out by Brig. WEBB during the ALAMEIN battle merited this award. Although the application was returned by the Army, I am now resubmitting it on account of the work done by this officer during the recent attack round the left flank of the MARETH position. A rapid developing movement of this nature, over very bad going, causes extreme administrative difficulties, yet Brig. WEBB, by his enthusiasm, drive and personal leadership overcame one difficulty after another. It is not too much to say that had it not been for the work of this officer the left hook could not possibly have developed. I hope sincerely that this recommendation will receive favorable consideration as no officers has deserved the D.S.O. more."
