Bruno Meinecke was born in Hannover on May 25th,1908. His name often is referred to as Bruno Meineke. According the Karteikarte (Heer) his name was Bruno Meinecke. According to a publication of Veit Scherzer, 2007, he supposedly was awarded the Deutsche Kreuz in Gold on February 7th, 1944. His Karteikarte mentiones no DKiG but only an Ehrenblattspange for that date. Based ont his it is being thought the recommendation for the DKiG was 'downgraded'to an EBS.
