Awarded the Oakleaves for the following actions...

1. Successfully defending at the Ssitomlja river (in the Tikhvin-Volkhov area), where Wulf and his Bataillon held their cut-off position for four days, thereby tying down significant Soviet forces and ensuring that the Tikhvin—Chudovo road (supplying three divisions) remained open.

2. Conducting a night attack against the Soviet Volkhov bridgehead on the night of the 31.12.1941/01.01.1942, wherein he and his Bataillon stormed two Soviet strongpoints and captured 21 heavy machine guns. Wulf was later seriously wounded on 13.01.1942.

3. Continuing to prove his worth as a field commander after returning to command his old Bataillon on the 28.04.1943, despite the injuries to his knee. He particularly distinguished himself during the breakout of Hube's pocket in March 1944, where his Division was among the German units encircled.
