Friedrich Karst was, when he was taken prisoner on May 11th 1945, commander of the Reinforcementdivision "Bielefeld", which was later named 466.Infantry-Division (also known as Division "Karst" of Fightinggroup "Karst"). At that time his rank was that of "Generalleutnant"(Lieutenant-general-appointed on April 1st 1943).
