The decoration was instituted in 1946 in recognition of Danish men and woman who participated in WW 2 on Allied side.
The badge is made of silver and depicts on the obverse the effigy of King Christian X, surrounded by the inscription: 'Christian X Min Gud Mit Land Min Aere' The badge is suspended from the ribbon by a crown. The ribbon is coloured red, 1.06" wide and has two broad stripes of .23" at each side. The central stripe of .59" is white with three red stripes of .07"
