Montfoort General Cemetery contains the graves of eight Commonwealth war casualties. The formed the crew of a Stirling Mk I - BF 415 bomber, belonging to RAF 90 (night bomber) Squadron.
The plane departed from Ridgewell Airfield, Essex, England at 6:22 pm on 3 February 1943, on a mission to Hamburg Germany, when it was shot down by a German night fighter over Willeskop, 16 km from Utrecht. All crew members died in the crash and were buried in Montfoort.
